Support for Falc East Workers – Knjaževac, Serbia
Novi sindikat gives its full support to the workers of the Falc East footwear factory in Knjaževac, who held a one hour warning strike yesterday to demand a wage increase.
High inflation and the sharp increase in the cost of living over the past year and a half have made life nearly unbearable for you and all other workers in Serbia. As the prices of food and essential expenses continue to rise, the modest increases in the minimum wage are hardly felt.
This is why you have demanded that management increase wages to the level of the minimum consumer basket and implement a program to raise wages to 70 percent of a living wage in the coming years. Since you did not receive satisfactory answers or guarantees, you rightfully decided to proceed with a one-hour warning strike.
We hereby send our full support to your struggle. We also have a message for the management of your factory and the brands for which you produce: Meet the demands of your workers and provide them with dignified living and working conditions!
