After February 7 of this year, as part of Novi sindikat, drivers working for platforms in Split organized similarly to those on February 19 in Zagreb. Thus, for the first time, conditions for trade union organization have been created that can potentially bring results. Members of the driver group are also formulating union demands:
- Enabling collective bargaining for workers employed through digital platforms.
- Regulation of the procedure that platforms should carry out if they want to exclude a worker from the platform or deny them access to any service that allows them to perform work.
- Establishing food delivery and taxi driving as non-deficit occupations in the Republic of Croatia, for which no work permits can be issued to foreign nationals, and ensuring that the laws regulating these activities are strictly respected.
- Establishing knowledge of the Croatian language as a requirement for performing tasks involving direct communication with clients.
On the other hand, Novi sindikat on February 24, 2025, sent a request for a meeting to the Ministry of Labour, Pension System, Family and Social Policy.
At the previous meetings, no concrete results or agreements were reached; instead, we received inconclusive answers to our inquiries. With new membership and union organization, we are now able to generate pressure through industrial actions to meet our demands.
