The “Pensioners Together” bloc has announced a protest to be held next Tuesday, October 1, at 12:00 PM on Ban Jelačić Square, marking the International Day of Older Persons. The title of the protest is “Against Poverty.”
“Increasing their own salaries by 70–80% while completely ignoring the needs and problems affecting pensioners, workers, students, and peasants can only be the work of a government that is entirely detached from reality, empathy, and the responsibility to serve the people instead of themselves.
The growing poverty across all sections of society except for those privileged and shielded by the government is an alarming condition to which no benevolent and responsible person in our beautiful country can or must remain indifferent, deaf, or blind. For over 15 years, BUZ (Bloc Pensioners Together) has publicly supported every protest and called upon its membership to express solidarity by joining the demonstrations. The membership has reacted positively every time, realizing that mutual understanding and solidarity, especially among vulnerable social groups, is what should define us all.”
Novi sindikat will support the pensioners’ bloc and join the protest. On the same day, a coalition of trade unions led by uniEuropa is organizing a protest in Brussels. The theme of that protest is: “Stop the Race to the Bottom No Public Procurement Without a Collective Agreement.”
See you there!
