Barica Badalić, our long-time trustee from the Lipovljani Lignum sawmill, is retiring. We gathered for a farewell party on Tuesday, August 8, to celebrate her career and the official handover of duties to our new commissioner, Vesna Adžam.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to Barica for her dedicated service during incredibly challenging times. She took on the role of Union commissioner years ago when the Lipovljani sawmill was part of the “Trokut” Novska kitchen furniture factory. She led the workers through several global economic crises while the company was managed by Italy’s Snaidero group, navigated the transitional years under the Florian Legno Group, and witnessed the formation of Lipovljani Lignum. Today, thanks in large part to her efforts, the workers of Lipovljani enjoy a collective agreement with conditions that are well above the average for the wood industry in Croatia.
Current challenges, primarily caused by disruptions in the German market, will now be managed by our new commissioner and her team. We have full confidence that Vesna, following in Barica’s footsteps, will successfully handle the demanding duties of a trade union commissioner in Croatia’s wood industry.
