To mediate in the negotiations between the Student Standard Agency and the Zadar cafeteria workers who have been on strike for more than two weeks—we addressed the Mayor of Zadar, Branko Dukić. However, we have received no response to our letter, which we transmit here in its entirety.

Mayor Branko Dukić, M.D
Dear Sir,
As you are aware, a strike has been ongoing at the Student Standard Agency in Zadar for two weeks. The workers are on strike because the management refuses to allow salaries to be determined through a collective agreement, insisting instead on deciding them unilaterally.
This situation is occurring under the direct instructions of the Rector of the University of Zadar, Dijana Vican, who is effectively obstructing social dialogue within the Agency. On the other hand, the workers and the Union refuse to accept that their salaries—a fundamental element of their employment contracts—cannot be agreed upon in the manner prescribed by law. To defend her position, the Rector has publicly insulted us and declared our actions illegal, despite the fact that we have acted in full accordance with legal provisions throughout the entire collective bargaining process.
Since it has become obvious after two weeks of striking that the two sides cannot find a mutually acceptable solution, we ask you to mediate and organize a meeting. We request that both sides be invited without either side being allowed to set conditions on who they will or will not talk to. With your assistance, we hope to finally reach an agreement.
Regarding the organization of this meeting, please contact the President of the Strike Committee, Tomislav Kiš (091/3566-102).
Respectfully,
Tomislav Kiš President of the Strike Committee
