Climate change is becoming increasingly apparent, and its impact on women workers is particularly visible. For example, summer heat is becoming more frequent, and if a workplace is not adequately air-conditioned, it can harm workers’ health. The ability to work and concentrate is reduced, increasing the risk of injury, and in extreme cases, leading to fainting.
At the same time, technological advances could be harnessed to benefit workers, such as adapting workspaces or facilitating working conditions.
The climate crisis and technological change demand a radical turnaround of industry—we want an industry that prioritizes workers’ rights and the planet over corporate greed.
We need a transition to an industry that respects people and the planet, rather than exploiting them for profit: a just transition.
The Clean Clothes Campaign advocates for a just transition in the textile industry. By succeeding in this endeavor and improving working conditions in one of the lowest-paid industries, we can set a precedent for better working conditions across other sectors as well.
You can also participate in this movement. Join Novi Sindikat and the Clean Clothes Campaign, a global network of more than 200 organizations united to fight for greater rights for textile workers.

The manifesto will establish the fundamental principles for a just transition toward a renewed fashion and textile industry.
Comment on topics that interest you and share your views on what a fair and environmentally responsible industry should look like. The Clean Clothes Campaign will collect comments, opinions, suggestions, and recommendations until 16 November 2025.
Clean Clothes campaigners will then draft a manifesto proposal, which will also be open for public comment in December 2025. The final text of the manifesto will be published on International Labour Day 2026.
