From 22 to 24 May 2025, Novi sindikat organized a Trade Union School at the Sveti Križ Hotel in Trogir. The school was attended by our commissioners from approximately twenty companies, a representative of the regional industrial union, representatives of the Branch Union of Employees in Insurance of Croatia, partners from the Clean Clothes Campaign, Organization Zora from Zenica, representatives of the Trade Union Sloga from Serbia, the Textile Union of the Federation of BiH, and the Textile Union of the Republic of Srpska.
We began the Trade Union School with the basics of trade union organization. On the second day, we focused on the process of collective bargaining and methods of union action. On the final day, we discussed strategies of union struggle, ranging from simpler actions such as conducting surveys in companies to more demanding ones, including protests and strikes.
We also covered the concept of a just transition and introduced the online tool by the Clean Clothes Campaign (@cleanclothescampaign), which allows everyone to contribute to drafting a manifesto for a just transition. Using this tool, participants can share their experiences working in factories and provide input on what a more sustainable industry could look like.
The tool is available online at: https://manifesto.cleanclothes.org
The Trade Union School will resume in the fall.
