Last weekend, from Thursday, November 7, to Saturday, November 9, 2024, we organized a workshop for Union Commissioners and activists. The event took place at Hotel Zvonimir in Otočac.

During the training, we covered the fundamentals of trade union work, starting from the definition and organization of unions to the methods of trade union struggle and collective bargaining. We also discussed other forms of workplace action, such as participation in Workers’ Councils.

A special segment was dedicated to the just transition in the textile industry, specifically addressing climate change and its direct impact on workers.

Our commissioners and union members from 11 companies participated in the workshop: (Podravka, Vodovod i kanalizacija Karlovac (Water Supply and Sewerage), Mladost Karlovac (Sports Facilities), Elda drvo, OTK, Čistoća Karlovac, Tvornica duhana Rovinj (Tobacco Factory Rovinj), Nastavni zavod za javno zdravstvo OBŽ (Teaching Institute for Public Health, Osijek-Baranja County), Studentski standard (Student Standard Agency), Lipovljani Lignum, Iskra Shipyard.

Their experiences and feedback will be used to develop a program for new workshops planned for the spring of 2025.

The workshop was organized as part of the education cycle within the EU DEAR project: “Fashioning a Just Transition.”
