The signing ceremony for the collective agreement for the workers of Karlovac Sports Facilities was held today in the Small Town Hall of Karlovac. The agreement was signed by the Director of Karlovac Sports Facilities, Renata Kučan, and the General Secretary of Novi sindikat, Tomislav Kiš. The signing was also attended by the Mayor of Karlovac, Damir Mandić. Director Renata Kučan pointed out that the collective agreement is the result of negotiations, good-faith compromise, and intensive work.
“I am pleased to say that there are 15 articles in the agreement. We launched the initiative to start negotiations in May. Our first meeting was held on May 21st, where we reached an understanding. The collective agreement is the result of negotiation, good-faith compromise, and intensive work. On behalf of the institution, I can express my satisfaction with the cooperation we have achieved.” said Director Renata Kučan.
The General Secretary of Novi sindikat, Tomislav Kiš, also expressed satisfaction with the negotiations, emphasizing that the most important thing is that the workers are satisfied with the agreement.
“We negotiated in good faith, and that is what matters most. When you negotiate in good faith and with the will to reach an agreement—as the saying goes—where there is a will, there is a way. We had the will on both sides and reached a solution that brings us great satisfaction, as well as the satisfaction of our members. These workers will live according to this collective agreement, and since they have expressed their satisfaction, I know we have done a good and quality job with the management and the leadership of the City of Karlovac, for which I am grateful. I suggest we continue to nurture these relationships; fostering a social partnership that already yields good results and raising it to a higher level is absolutely necessary.” said Tomislav Kiš.
The Mayor of Karlovac, Damir Mandić, also expressed his satisfaction with the collective agreement, noting the open dialogue maintained throughout the negotiations.
“It should be pointed out that the entire process of transforming Mladost into Karlovac Sports Facilities was quite challenging and stressful not only for those who remained with the sports facilities but also for the employees who were transferred to the City of Karlovac’s operations, specifically the towing service (pauk). The stress that occurred was, in a way, normal and expected, but I believe we managed to control it so that at every moment, all employees knew where they stood. As for the transformation itself, it is already becoming clear that this was the right path to take. The company Mladost handled a vast range of tasks, and it was simply time to organize them to define who does what and, ultimately, who is responsible for what.
The second thing I would like to point out is that this collective agreement is well-crafted. I must thank both Novi sindikat and the director for helping us reach a stage of open, argumentative dialogue. I believe that in this spirit, we can continue our discussions in the coming months and years, each representing our own side.” Damir Mandić said.
