The agreement between the management of Croatia Airlines and the trade unions has failed. According to sources, with all legal measures exhausted, the possibility of a strike is now open. There is currently no official announcement from the Union.
Information from one of the employee unions at Croatia Airlines indicates that a strike is likely, although it has not yet been officially announced. Workers are demanding higher wages, longer collective bargaining agreements, and reduced overtime.
“The employer’s offer is consistent with the offer from December 2017, which includes retaining all rights from the former collective agreement (whose provisions are still being applied), a wage increase of 2.5 percent, the payment of a holiday allowance in the amount of 1,000.00 HRK, and the signing of the collective agreement until the end of 2019. It also includes the possibility of signing the collective agreement by the end of 2018 and continuing negotiations after the end of this year’s tourist season to avoid a negative impact on Croatia’s tourism product. Additionally, the signing of an annex to the agreement regarding the seniority list for flight staff and the abolition of the commercial pilot training program (the content of which was previously agreed upon and has been fully applied since 2017) was offered.
However, representatives of the ORCA union repeated yesterday that the minimum requirement for continuing negotiations is their proposal for a 3-year collective agreement from December 2017, which is financially unacceptable and unsustainable for the company as it would represent an additional annual cost of about 32 million HRK,” the statement says.
