Yesterday, Wednesday, September 21, Novi sindikat commissioner Vesna Adjam convened a workers’ assembly following the employer’s decision to declare 19 workers redundant. We requested that the management inform the staff about the company’s current situation and clarify whether there will be further layoffs. An employer representative stated they were uncertain but estimated the total number of redundancies would not be less than 150 out of the current 190 workers.

The workers inquired about the future of those remaining in the company regarding their material rights and working conditions. Currently, material rights under the collective agreements are still being respected. Furthermore, as soon as the government’s decision to increase the minimum wage takes effect, we will launch an initiative to harmonize salaries accordingly.
