The Mladost Karlovac collective agreement was officially concluded today between Novi sindikat and the trading company Mladost d.o.o., securing significantly better material rights for the employees. This agreement defines non cumulative salary supplements for overtime (50%), night work (35%), Saturday work (20%), Sunday work (35%), holiday work (50%), and shift work (5%). During on-call shifts, workers are entitled to 10% of their base pay. Furthermore, the agreement establishes a St. Nicholas gift for children of HRK 600 net, a holiday allowance of HRK 1,500 net, a one time bonus of HRK 1,500 net, and an Easter gift of HRK 600. Additional days of annual leave and mandatory employer-provided health check ups have also been agreed upon. We have also regulated the protection of workers with temporary or permanent disabilities; for example, the collective agreement grants workers the right to double severance pay in cases of work related injuries or occupational diseases. By concluding this collective agreement, we have once again demonstrated why union membership is vital only organized workers can win increased rights and a better position in the workplace.
