On the eve of International Women’s Day, once again this year we met with the workers of Požega Orljava, our long-standing members and strong women who are persistent in the fight for their rights. Since the factory went into receivership in July 2021, together with them we won the payment of full severance pay from the Government of the Republic of Croatia and put pressure on the German brand Olymp, for which they have been producing for more than 50 years.
This struggle continues, as the mediation process led by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is still ongoing, and the women workers have said they will never leave Olymp alone, as they consider it one of the main culprits for the collapse of their factory.
At the meeting we also presented the workers with the Just Transition Manifesto created by the Clean Clothes Campaign, and they gave us their opinions and comments on how to make it stronger.
Although the factory is closed, we will not allow their struggle and years of work to be forgotten.
