The PROM-1 is an anti-personnel spring mine that can kill or seriously injure anyone within 50 meters, causing harm regardless of protective equipment such as bulletproof vests or body armor. The deceased bomb disposal expert was the father of six children, two of whom are also bomb disposal specialists. This marks the third firefighter killed this year.
